Mumbai Athletes Shine with Gold Medal Performances

On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Kickboxing League was successfully organized at the Divisional Sports Complex, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Ms. Raksha Khadse. Athletes from the Sports Kickboxing Association – Mumbai City delivered an outstanding performance in the championship. Ashwini Jambale showcased exceptional skill and determination by winning two Gold Medals in the Point Fight and Light Contact categories, achieving a remarkable double victory in the tournament. Darshana Aggaonane also delivered an impressive performance, securing a Gold Medal in the Light Contact category and a Silver Medal in the Point Fight category, bringing further pride to the Mumbai team. Both athletes belong to the Dharavi area of Mumbai and regularly train at Shri Hanuman Seva Mandal Hall under the Shito-Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing Association (SSKKA). Under the guidance of Coach Vince Patil, the athletes competed in the Senior Division and demonstrated excellent technical skills and sportsmanship. During the competition, Mr. Vighnesh Murkar, an International and National Referee of WAKO, efficiently managed the bouts as the Tatami In-Charge, ensuring discipline and smooth conduct of the matches. Senior referees Mr. Ashish Mahadik and Mr. Pradnesh Patwardhan served as Center Referees, playing an important role in maintaining fairness and control during the bouts. The success of the team is credited to Mr. Umesh Murkar, President of the Sports Kickboxing Association – Mumbai City and Shito-Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing Association (SSKKA). Under his leadership and training system, the team continues to grow steadily while focusing on the overall development of athletes. The President of Sports Kickboxing Association Maharashtra has consistently supported and encouraged the team and also took the initiative to organize this competition in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The championship served as a powerful platform to encourage women’s participation in combat sports and once again highlighted the strength and talent of Mumbai’s kickboxing athletes.
